    Default A Different Take

Experimenting with different looks/compositions with the Lotus that are in bloom this year...I shoot them every year and trying to find something a bit out of the ordinary (at least for me). 180mm, f/8@1/160. Raw image processed in LR; some minor blemish touch ups in PS using the healing brush...a light layer of NIK's Tonal Contrast.

Hi John - Lovely lotus bloom. Your comp is interesting. I like it a lot, but I think I might take just a bit off the RHS.

Cool lotus, great exposure. I second removing a bit off the RHS. I am debating on your point of selective focus but love the detail you captured in the in focus pedals.

Hi John, nice detail captured at your selected focus point. Interesting composition giving a different perspective. Keep them coming...

Details within dof are very good, very nice colors and good job on whites. I think I would liked a more "diagonal"composition.

Hi John. Lovely pastels with good detail in the whites, and excellent sharpness within your DOF! Very nicely done!

John: I like this version better than the one posted in OOTB. Cropped closer, more diagonal. Retains beautiful colors. In this case I might go for a smaller aperture to get more of the bud in focus since the place my eye goes to (rule of thirds) has an out of focus petal. Generally, I'm not picky about soft focus.
