The image looks fine for 1/800. With the D800, why the low ISO and slow SS?
Especially with a sky BG, where ISO1600 or more would be fine?
Do you notice any difference with the 800E?
I am still not sure what the difference is or what it does?

Personal preference for the shutter speed and ISO. I think lower ISOs give more color depth and thus provides more subtleties to the image. Then again it may be my imagination, but it is what I think and prefer. I also like a little motion blur which is why I shoot at slower shutter speeds. I think the slight blur of the wings gives the image more of a sense of motion as well as more tension than if they were frozen.

I have noticed a difference between the 800 and the 800e. Again, it may be my imagination, but I think there is more subtle detail in the "e" images which does not show up at 72 lines. I believe it shows up on my monitor at full resolution and when I print.

D800E and a blue sky, I would love to have both. I like your composition, sharp eyes, talons and it tells a story. Thanks for your opinion on ISO, I will have to try it out - I have been living with 800 as my norm but generally do not have blue sky.
