    Default Liftoff

I caught this Burrowing Owl just as it was lifting off from a perch. Loving the new 600!!! I lightened a few darker areas in the BG in post.

Lovely image, Doug. Great bg, take off pose and light.
Now you have me thinking about the new 600 (not that I'd be able to pull off a shot like this with it :)

    Doug:

So fun to see these guys flying, I have never seen on in the air. Just looking to the right, looking to the left, looking to the right (you know the drill )

Congrats on the new lens, should make the hand holding a bit easier.

Sharp, well exposed, nice wing spread.

From a comp standpoint, I might try a sliver more room on the left, not just for more room to fly into, but to have the extra negative space to balance the masses concentrated in the lower right corner.

    Very nice as is, however.

    Cheers

Nice. Love the diagonal placement and tack sharp eyes. Wing blur really works with this lift-off. I also like that you have included that perch.
Glad to see that 600mm doing wonders in very capable hands.

congrats on all your new kit - already letting them shine I see

Certainly a great lens from reading your assesment of it. But the photographer makes images like this. Great action and things look good on my monitor - maybe a little more room as suggested.

Superb capture ,Doug . Love the intensity in the eyes . Another vote for overall toning down a tad. Still a great capture .
