I photographed this guy in Portland, Or last week, using a Nikon D300 with 200-400 lens at f4, 1/160, matrix metering - .67, ISO 1000.
The white spots are petals from flowering trees. I was undecided as to whether I should remove them.

Sharp for 1/160th. Get rid of the white spots... The bird is too low in the frame; look at all the dead space above the bird... I like the patterns in the water.

Thanks for the suggestions. I adjusted the white spots and the crop.

    Hi Sarah!

Great expression, and nice head angle. I would suggest continue to clone out the bright spot next to the eye, as it draws attention away from your subject. I also think the image could be improved with a slightly CCW rotation. I hope you don't mind that I drew a vertical box on your image to show how the reflection in the water can help you with the rotation.

Like the colors of the water and your subject. The woody is too low in the frame, must agree with the rest...:D
