    Very early morning shot.

I am still getting used to the camera, LR4.1 and CS6. Everything seems very sensitive, and my sharpening routine has been reduced a some so I may be over sharpening.

Very nice enviro image. The IQ looks very nice, the FG grass is nice and I like the Attractive BG color a lot.

Liking the layered colors in the background, nice natural setting and the grass stems also help to make this work. The head region of the bird may look a little over sharpened, but not very noticeable being smallish in the frame. Overall I like it as is, light and color is very nice

Dave - like this "birdscape." Comp works very well and layered colors really add to it. There are a few specular highlights to the above right that can be blended a little further if so inclined.

    Dave:

I like the sense of him surveying his domain, light, BG and grasses.

I do agree, the bird is a bit oversharpened, looks jus a bit cut out.

Glad you are enjoying your new camera, always fun.

    Cheers

Thanks everyone. Good catch Rachel. The highlights are bits of sky and easily fixed. I am finding the newer versions of programs are very sensitive so what were slight adjustments seem much bigger including Smart Sharpen.

Very nice colors throughout, seems like the perfect dof for this. I can see a slight halo around the back of the bird, you will soon have your new gear worked out.

I really like this photo Dave. Love the layered backgrounf, wonderful environment and nice lookback pose. Great example why we don't have to have bird occupying the entire frame. Sweet. Processing issues can be easily fixed...

You have to be careful in CS6. When you downsize an image, CS6 defaults to Bicubic Automatic; it totally screwed up my processing too, producing images that appeared oversharpened. I switched to Bicubic, and now my workflow is like it used to be.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions Jack and Raj. And thanks Doug for the tip on CS6. It is really easy to over do it and hard to notice when you may have been looking at an image for awhile.
