This was at a setup. This juvenile ceaselessly begs for food, even when it is standing in the seed. I think the parents are getting tired of it. D700, 300mm, 1.4tc, tripod. 1/4000, f5.6, iso 800. Adjusted exp and wb and cropped in acr. Eye work and USM in CS3.

Very nice interaction, it looks like it was taken under moonlight. Very nice effect.

Everything stands out nicely against bg. I am not sure how fast things were moving but there may have been a bit more room for dof increase, other wise the important things are sharp.

Jack - nice interaction and I like the spread wings and dark bg. Works well.

Again, the spotlight effect is brilliant here. How do you achieve this black bg? I love the story and the interaction. The "expressions" on their faces are priceless.
    Very well executed.

Thanks everybody. Sid, this spot in my yard gets direct sun from about 9:00- 10:30 but the BG, which is thick woods about 20 ft away, is in shade from overhanging limbs from a large oak which puts the BG in shade. At these techs I get a good exposure on the perch area but the 1/4000 ss puts the bg black. I have been shooting these techs trying to get in air fighting shots. I have come close but will have clipped wings, bad ha, etc., but it is awesome fun.

Hi Jack, love the interaction, and good to see the wingspread of the juvi. Colours look good, and the darker BG works well here.

Really nice. Just enough of the chicks face to work the butt angle. Il like it and the light is cool too.
