Been up only once this year to the lake and have not found any loons, here were at least 3 pairs last year. Will try again in the next coming weekends.

This was taken last year on a calm morning close to shore, tight crop to eliminate cottage reflection on the water.

Silkypix RAW converter and Elements 9 for processing.

    Ramon:

Nice colors, well exposed, interesting angle on the wingflap.

The bird is fairly soft on the head. Perhaps the camera focused on the wing instead.

Hope you have good luck this year, always a joy to see them up close.

    Cheers

Looks a bit soft here as well. Love the comp. and pose. Nice exposure and good crop.

Hi Ramon, good low perspective, and well timed to get the wing flap. I do like the detail and colours these guys have, and agree the head is a touch soft. Im not any more sharpening will help - it also looks like some NR got mixed up in that area.

I really like the lines and composition of the shot. Very nice.
Softness of head already mentioned. My nit with this shot is the merge between the head and dark part the far wing.I wish the head had intersected with the white part of wing,

Very nice image Ramon - Loons are some of my favourite subjects. Randy has alredy mentioned my concern about the focus point. I am not sure about the crop - to me this poseseems better suited for a horizontal presentation?
