Lovely portrait. Excellent IQ. I would like a bit more room on top and to the right if you have it.
I like the eye and the green lores.
Did you do some PP to the BG above the forehead? I see a whitish hazy halo. May just be the way it was.
I really like the complimentary BG.

Great IQ. Very clean image and very nice portrait. Agree that on close look something looks funky above head but certainly works as presented!

Beautiful portrait with lots of good details. I agree with more room above and right, and I would have preferred a slightly better head angle (more towards us). Nice BG!

Hi Phil, good detail captured on the heron, and overall you have exposed him very well, and brought out the colours nicely. Another vote for more room top and right, and the halo on the forehead easily fixed.

Super detail and exposure, those greens around the lores are amazing. I would also go along with a more landscape format, though I can also envisage a portrait too.

Wonderful close up portrait Phil. Fixing the halo will put this over the top.

Phil - I agree with all of the above - excellent detail and exposure. A little more room above and to the right and fix the halo will take this over the top.

Good work by all above especially Dan and Gail. I love seeing wading bird species that are closely related to our birds, in this case, to Black-crowned Night-Heron, yet are so, so different.

I also agree with the comments, but this is a very nice detailed portrait.
