    Lovely little bird.
I can see this as a vertical as well.
I would add a bit more contrast to give the bird a bit more pop.
I can also see your cloning work between the bird's legs and would clean that up a bit.

Here is a repost, perhaps a little better.

Nice job on this little guy. Re-post looks better. I think I would lose the leaf cluster in the lower right completely. Maybe tone down some of the highlights on the perch. TFS

yes, repost is better. Might try Gail's suggestion of a vertical to lose that leaf cluster on the right.

Sweet little bird, nicely captured. I could see it without the RH leaf cluster, but it doesn't bother me much. It appears to me (by browser cropping) that a vertical would either lose too much of the perch or be too squarish a proportion. I like it as reposted.

I like the comp as presented, including the leaf cluster at right...I actually wish there was none behind the bird. Perfect pose by the subject, and great perch it chose. Clone mark clean-up looks good in the repost.

Hi Jon, lots to look at and think about here. I wondered if you moved the little guy higher, you would then have too much foliage below, so the placement is fine as is. I like the space on the right, but would remove the leaves on the right as they come from nowhere. Good DOF on the subject, sharp, and your repost is a big improvement. Well done.

Johnathan, am liking the leaves. Nice head turn, details and the distant BG. I am fine with the composition as well. I like the little blur you got on the leaves behind the tail.

    Well done.
