Default Eagle Talons up close and personal.

While hesitant to post an image that is not an entire bird this one has special interest to me. This particular day I saw the bird coming down the beach some distance away and began shooting as it approached. Quickly realized it seemed to be coming directly at me, took my eyes off the viewfinder and prepared to "duck." At the very last second the bird turned, thank heavens, and veered away from me. Looking at the images when I got home, was amazed to find one that was crazy close, in fact almost inside the focal range of the lens. The talon detail was the best I'd ever seen though most of the bird was missing. Eagles fly very close to fisherman all the time on this Island, but this was the only time I actually felt fear as it approached. The tools of death were within 8 feet of my face. If this type of image is inappropriate please comment so I may refrain in the future. All comments welcome.

Very cool shot Allen and nothing inappropriate about it!
I am very impressed that you even got this shot in focus.
If this was mine I would clone out the entire OOF lower wing. This would allow the eye to travel directly to the talons and make the image feel less weighty at the bottom.

I dunno. The techs are good and details very nice, I actually like the wing at bottom and wish it had been open enough to cover the open space at bottom left. I also find there is too much space between the tail and the edge of the frame. I love the clutched talons. But I dunno, although quite different from the norm I can't seem to connect with the image. Kudos for exploring a different approach for bird photography.
