Very attractive subject here, I like the subdued forest light, and the beautiful shine on the feathers (especially the green feathers overlapping the red belly). Nice BG. Tough to compose with their long tails and often cluttered habitat...I think you reached a nice compromise with this crop. Ideally that part protruding up from the perch would not have been there but I can live with it. I also would have preferred the head not tilted away. Beautiful image overall...looking forward to more from you.
P.S. We like to include exif data to accompany the images we post (camera, lens, camera settings). It helps others learn and with our critiquing / offering suggestions.
a spectacular entrance to say the least, nicely composed and rich forest colors
Im betting you have more (been talking to Nelson)
Look forward to more from you, well done
did you get Silky Flycatcher when there?
Welcome. Nice details on the spectacular bird. Situation less than perfect. The bird could stand a nice boost in brightness.

I thought about clonning the protruding part from the perch, but felt that is makes it less balance, I like it better this way.
@Richard Unsworth,
At the time of the year that I was there, there where not a lot of Silkys They where still doing their altitute migrating I believe. But I know some great spots where you can get them at eye level. Maybe I get some decent shots this year.
Hi, Thanks for the comments,
Exif where as follow, Canon 100-400mm, 6.3, 1/60, ISO 400, Canon 7D, Build in Camera Flash.
I thought about removing the protruding part from the perch, but felt the picture was imbalance after it, so I leave it in.

Thanks,
I didn't get any good captures of Silky early this year, I think they where stil doing their altitude migration and there where not a lot in the valley.
I know some good spots that you can get then at eye level, maybe Ill get some decent pictures next weekend, I am heading that way.
An amazing bird, such amazing colors and the wing feathers are divine, I think I'd be inclined to crop to just below the branch to eleiminate the oof area below
