    Default Feeding Frenzy....

One of these Australian Pelicans in full breeding colours found a dead fish. It was too big and heavy for it to swallow so it struggled with it for a few minutes. The other pelicans joined the party and they started snatching the fish from each other for at least half an hour until they all gave up.
Shooting from a kayak I thought it would be a good idea to risk the 7D rather than my beloved Mark IV....

You did risk a very nice lens. I love the action. all eyes forward, composition and the breading plumage is grand.

Outstanding image, Ofer. There's a lot to see and enjoy here. Light, exposure, the 4 heads, the fish, the interaction - all superb.

Really fun image to view, Ofer. Has almost a cartoon-like feel. Well seen and executed!

Excellent action shot. You did a great job getting all the pelicans in focus, exposed perfectly, and great comp.
    Well done.

Incredible, those colors are simply amazing, great action.

Next time take the 800mm and mk IV a a bigger boat to capture an extreme close up of their eyes, they are truly amazing ;)

Gald to see one less carp in the waterways Ofer. Nice even focus on all birds and the eyes standing out well, including the one behind on the top right peeking over.

If I ever get to Australia your images of this species will be the #1 reason. Are they easy subjects or difficult (he asked noting the kayak...)?

    Thanks for your comments guys!
Artie, it is actually a very easy bird to photograph as you don't need a hide. With most Aussie birds you do need one. Shooting from a kayak offers some amazing opportunities with these birds.
