Sea Eagle off Kangaroo Island South Aust.
There are about 17 nest sites on this island .Each Feb.we spend a day or two at sea each year trying our luck with these reluctant birds using fish to attract them. its a test as the sea is not smooth and the wind ,tide, octopus thieves , gulls and fact that they don't necessarily come up wind if at all ,adds to the fun. This female is in superb condition.
C and C welcome

Ian, my hat is off to you for making this capture! Well done on many fronts. Whites are well under control and the bird looks nice and sharp. I am curious about the white outline on the trailing edge of the wings, as I don't think that is natural. I would suggest opening up the image a bit and giving the bird more space in the frame.

Difficult bird under difficult conditions, the whites are retaining detail so darn well done I feel. Nice wing position and cropped to fill the frame nicely corner to corner. Possibly a slight blue cast to the image, but could be my monitor and I wonder if the halo on the edges are as a result of sharpening or just adverse condition. I spent a week on the island last August...brrrrrr!... and only seen one of these beauties high above, maybe I need to consider going during the warmer times of the year.

Interesting bird and I like the in flight capture. I agree it's a little tight in the frame. Also maybe burn the whites on the top of the head a bit.

Hi Kerry,
Ive been away for a week or two,but have now looked at several hundred shots of the White Bellied Sea Eagle that I taken over time. Every time the bird is back lit or even side lit this white outline shows up. I think its inherent in the feather tip! My apologies for not responding sooner.
Thanks for comments.
