We find a few of these guys in a local park every year. This one was coming into a box with some food for his babies. Canon EOS 1DMK4, 600mm., ISO 1600, f/7.1, SS 1/1600. Used manual focus on the front of the box. Cropped out the front of the box on the right and slight bit from the top.

Good capture! BG is great too.

I would run another round of sharpening on it though.

Like the wing position, eye contact, BG, and meal. Prefocusing was a good idea, but you just missed with this frame.

Not easy to pull off. This one was close, but soft as mentioned. You did get a neat wings down pose, and a great meal for the young ones.

Nice pose and background. It looks somewhat soft on my monitor.

Thanks gang. I loved the position and afraid to admit that it may be a bit soft. You have affirmed my fears!

Nice bird and wing position. I prefer a 3:2 ratio since in this case, would yield more room in front of the bird. IQ has been mentioned.

A hard one to get... Nice wing position, and great feeling of motion.

This is such a nice pic, I had to try some sharpening on it (hope you don't mind) Remember, you will be able to do better on the original, than on this tiny Inet image. (a little noise reduction before sharpening might be also be good)
