    Default Darter drying wings

    Hi all,

This is such a great forum with lots of great advice and talent. I'm still pretty new to birding myself but have learnt alot in a short period. I just upgraded to a 1D Mark III before Xmas and decided to give it a test run at Fogg Dam in Northern Territory of Australia. Conditions have been very difficult with dull overcast days all week, however I was lucky enough to get a break in the clouds for 10 minutes and snapped up a few shots of this Darter.

    1D Mark III, 100-400L IS, 1.5x TC
    1/320, f6.3, ISO400, Handheld

    Any comments appreciated!

    Cheers
    William

    Hi William,

How interesting to see a bird so close in looks and behavior as our Anhinga!

I love the light and pose, but it's too tight in the frame for my taste, although I like the idea of a pano crop for this composition.

Looking forward to more, and Big welcome to BPN :)

Welcome, William. I like the pose and angle. I agree with Fabs and would decrease the contrast. I find the BG a bit distracting.

I second what Fabs said and I would also like to see some detail in the blacks. Welcome to BPN!

    Welcome, William
The pose is a good one and I like the sharp detail that you got in the wings. The suggestions from the others are good ones.
