    This is a setup. The sun was getting pretty high and the bg was in shade. D700, 300mm, 1.4tc, tripod. 1/4000, f5.6, iso800, Adjusted exposure just a bit and cropped in ACR. S/H on the eye and USM in CS3.

    Jack, you are on a roll lately.
    Very nice exposure and lighting for this guy.
    Interesting dark BG, I would darken the one green area above the bird to match.

    Beautiful image, Jack. The spot light effect on the bird and the perch and the alert pose make this image for me. The perch is quite lovely. Very nice work.

    Standing out well from the dark backdrop, gorgeous color on this bird, the crest and erect tail is very handsome...agree regarding removing the green patch in the black above the bird

    Great pose on the bird. Sharpness and exposure looks good. Good perch. Agree about losing the bright spot in the BG, Very nice! TFS

    Marvelous image. Very nice pose,beautiful bird with nice crest and colors. I like the BG and perch too.
