The least terns at our local town beach are giving another try this year after two years in a row loosing their nests to storm driven high tides. Wish them well. This bird was letting all the possible suitors who approached her with a fish that their services are not needed.

Love the beautiful light, low angle and lovely nesting area as well as background. That open beak (and visible toungue) adds to the image. Is that catch light natural?
Plovers and Terns here in MA had similar issue. Most nests, chicks got washed away in that late spring storm and high tide. But the birds are resiliant and are actively building nests.
    Cheers,

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, the catch light is natural. I would love to see some images of your MA birds.

Gorgeous light. These are such lovely birds, and you caught her beautifully. Love the FG/BG and open beak. Very nicely done. Is this at Nickerson? I need to get there!

Beautiful light, exposure is great and just enough dof. I like the little plant under the tail.

This is a lovely tern photo. Great angle, light and nice pebbles. And thank you for the nesting information. I just returned from seeing common loons and was worried that their nest would be flooded from the spring rains in Alberta. We should all appreciate the trouble they have and admire their ability to keep trying.

Love the light, mood and the low angle. The open beak with the tongue showing adds. Nicely done.
