    Default Rosy Finch

    HI,

Learning the use of flash in bird photography. This was in extremely low light. I was just happy to get a decent picture. What do you think?

7D, 100-400 @375, 580Ex, 1/160, ISO 800, 5.6. Cant get rid of noise on the bird without compromising the details (what ever visible).

PS- the OOF perch tip looks like that because of the 'going away' angle...

Looks good on my monitor Amol, without pixel peeping the noise looks OK to me, I'm not steered by the oof stick, not an issue in my opinion. I'm still trying to come to terms with using flash myself, and to be honest I rarely bother to use one, this looks OK, not overly flashed, although maybe the top half of the head may be slightly in shadow, or may simply be the red is richer there.

SAme here Phil, I rarely used a flash but wanted to learn to use it. I wanted to spend more time to shoot in low light situations. You Are right about the top half of the bird but its naturally rich in color may be thats why it looks dark.
