These little kingfishers are very small, so I was happy that this guy decided to perch close to the hide. They are also very busy, not staying in one place for very long. I managed a few shots before he flew off. Taken in the Pilanesberg National Park a little while back. The BG is distant reeds, and was shot as is.

A classic MK capture , Stuart. I love the way the awesome plumage on the back and rump is displayed ,as well as the perfect HA , the great perch and killer bg. Great comp too.

Given the size of the bird , you have managed brilliantly to get close !!! Amazing BG , sharpness on the bird and the colours are just classy !!!

Stu, I think you have a super image here I like the fine detail, pose colours and exposure. I would maybe consider brightening the eye, especially the area opposite the highlight. I think the almost square format works, normally I would have thought 3:2 but I have a feeling it may appear too elongated.

Tony, there will always be some sort of action when we get there. You know you will come away with a couple of keepers.

Thank you everyone else for the kind words.

Like the sweet light, look-back pose and clean BG. I would crop a bit on bottom.
