Default Loonapaloosa #1 - common loon

Just back from a trip to Northern Michgan. Was primarily a loon outing, hence the Loonapaloosa name.
One of the things I like about loons are all the different looks they can give, and in this case, the really stretched out neck, very erect and alert pose.

D4 600VR f/5.6 1/2500s ISO 640 Pedestal mounted in the bottom of my little boat, Loonie Too.

Post: CS5, cleaned up one smudge in BG, straightened, selective sharpening.

    Advice and comments always appreciated

    Cheers

Lovely matching colors and beautiful pose. It feels just a bit tight on left.
    Very well done.

Comments - superb, absolutely!! Focus DOF exposure detail - spot on.
Advice - keep them coming - just can't get enough of these birds when photographed so beautifully.

Randy, like the alert look here! The green on the neck looks beautiful. Might remove one of the catch lights in the eye, in my opinion, it takes away from the intensity of the eye. Great shot though.

The extended neck is beautiful, Randy. A pose not often seen. Quite lovely.

Hi Randy, you have nailed the exposure nicely, which in turn has brought out the colours very well. Shooting from your boat will always create the perfect low angle, and I like how the colour of the water compliments the loon.

Thanks everyone for the comments and input. Such fun birds to work with.

Gary: Good point about the catchlight. I will do a version without the lower catchlight off the water.

    Cheers
