Image from Falls of the Ohio State Park. The light wasn't great and the birds were not getting very close to our position but we could get any closer due to deep fast moving water.

Due to low contrast and all the moving water plus the 2X converter the autofocus was struggling so I took this with manual focus

Nice one Joel. I like the action captured and I love seeing this bird in the water. Good job on the manual focus, it is often difficult to tell when you are shooting outdoors in sunlight. I would only wish for a little lightening on the whitish parts of the bird.

I like the "unusual pose". Makes it an interesting image.

Have to agree with Kerry on the lighting on the sides. Maybe your flash with a better beamer might have helped a bit? This would depend on the distance to the bird of course.

Very nice Joel. Very cool looking bird and the water action makes for a lot of interest. Great job with the manual focus!

Well done with manual focus and alot of focal length. In my neck of the woods I never see these guys in the open.
