This Aerial Yellowjacket queen (Dolichovespula arenaria) was building a nest just above the side door of my garage - not a good spot! I captured her and she gave me a nice pose it the light box. Afterwards, my daughter, the bug geek, moved the nest and queen out into the woods - the queen was very attached to her small brood of larvae. 5D II, 100 mm macro, 1/200, f/16, ISO 100, light box, 2 remotely fired flashes, hand held. All comments are welcome and appreciated.
Very nicely presented and super fine focus, DOF almost perfect the tail is just a tad OOF.
I am not familiar with this wasp, I like the detail in the blacks but the blacks look a little brown (??) this is probably me showing my ignorance!.
