Default Piping plover after the storm

We had heavy rains and high tides over the weekend. The few piping plover nests and chicks were washed away. Here is an adult a few days after the storm. It is a partly cloudy morning and it is standing in what was left of the grassy nesting area. (A few days later I did see one plover sitting on a nest.)

A real beauty, Allan. Angle, pose and comp are super. I'd be tempted to run some NR on the BG.

Hi Allan, lovely soft light, well exposed, and you have captured a nice angled pose. The BG colours compliment the plover nicely, and I like the inclusion of the green foliage in the FG. I agree with Bill that some NR on the BG will improve the overall image.

Will run a round of noise reduction on bg with Topaz Denoise. No need to repost though.

Just wonderful story telling, Alan. We lost two nest as well (LI northshore) last week due to wind driven high tide.

    Hi Allan,
I am off to Mass. this weekend with Mike Milicia and Melissa and I hope I get an image as nice as this.
I like the green grass that gives a nice pop of color without overwhelming the bird.
    Nice soft diffuse light.
    Whites look good.

Lovely photo. I really like the nice green habitat and that none of it is in front of bird.
Hopefully there is enough time left for a new brood of young ones.

    This is a lovely shot.
Hard to believe you have any noise at iso800 though,
    with the D800?
    Surprizing.
