A Double-banded Plover found amongst the numerous Red-capped Plovers near the Bega River mouth at Mogareeka, just north of Tathra in south-east Australia. Not sure if this is an immature bird or a non-breeding adult.

Leo, What a wonderful bird. Do you know their conservation status? As far as your image, I would put just a touch more sharpening on the face. I'd tone down the whites on the side slightly. A touch off the foreground. I'm not a huge fan of the debris pile on the right. I like habitat elements, but there is so much in that pile that I find it draws me from the bird. The light is wonderful as is the color palette. Great low shooting angle. Thanks so much for sharing this image.

Nice warm colours in this one and low angle of shot works a treat, I guess it comes down to personal tastes, but I rather like the stick/debris on the right, myself i think it compliments the bird with a more natural composition

Lovely image. Perfect low angle, warm light and colors. Like Phil, I too like the debris + stick on the right. I think it balances the comp nicely.

Hi Leo, great low perspective, and I do like the pose. The plover and BG compliment each other nicely, although Im finding the darker band behind the plover a little distracting. I would be fine with the stick by itself, and remove the debris around it.

Lovely shot Leo, I really like the light & low POV, I like the twig on the right too.

Great colours here, and the low angle works very well. I find the comp very well balanced. I agree with toning down the brightest whites on the plover's body, plus eliminating the small speck there too. I love the BG but would smooth out the pale OOF streak touching the twig at right. Quite an enjoyable image!!

Superb image, the only things I would change would be to remove the broken grass bent at a right angle (on far left) and lower the highlights just a little. I really like the natural setting, a very eye catching image, I think this would make an excellent print.

Nice light and POV. I would take a bit off the bottom to get rid of more of the OOF FG.
I would tone down the whites a bit as well.
    Nice colors.
I am ok with the stick on the right but would remove the white OOF band just to the left of the stick.
    A very nice image,
    Gail

These birds are not regarded as threatened. They breed in New Zealand and many of them migrate to eastern Australia for winter. More information on them can be found at http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bi...l?taxon_id=895

Great image...warm light, nice and sharp, I like the beach debris and the fact that you can see the sand grains...excellent intimate low angle. The few nits mentioned above are easily fixed. Wonderful image!

Awesome low angle shot,Bruce ! Apart from toning down the whites somewhat,I'm ok with the twigs. Not much you can do about the bg.
