    Default Gray Catbird on Sumac.

Still so much Florida stuff to process, but I took a break in order to process a few recent "back home" images

While scouting an area last month I stumbled upon this beautiful and vocal individual. It is common enough, but a nemesis bird for me. I did an "audio test" to see if it would respond...and it did wonderfully, so I placed the speaker under this low sumac branch and he came right at the spot I envisioned. Small crop from original vertical.

    Wow Daniel!
I really like this: the diagonal line of the perch with the leaves tucked up in RUC, the opposing diagonal from the line of the catbirds body and the great HA.And of course, great IQ and comp.
I also love the texture and layers of the tail feathers.
    A terrific shot,
    Gail

This Catbird found a beautiful perch whith the nice light colour green leaves on top. He chose a beauty background as well.
Nice to see the colourful undertail covert.
Nice pose and excellent composition, Daniel!!!

Such an artful image, Daniel. Well thought out and executed. I love how you can see the rufous patch under his tail, really a beautiful image.

Have to agree with everyone else Daniel, simply divine in all respects, including a rather nice lime green backdrop

Very beautiful Daniel. Great IQ and comp, bg and perch. I read that the catbird is very approachable, not for me. There are plenty here where I live but they are very secretive. Well done.

Love the composition. The green stuff gives this such great balance. Nice execution of your vision.

Terrific shot, Daniel. These guys are so plentiful (and vocal) around here that I usually don't bother to point the lens in their direction, and as a result have very few good shots of them. None approaching this one. Pose and comp are great, likewise the perch. One doesn't often get a good view of the undertail covert. Nicely conceived and executed.

Hi Dan, love the placement of the bird looking up into the frame, and you have achieved good DOF throughout the image. The catbird is nice and sharp, and I like the BG.

Audio wins in the end! Those birds can be easily tricked, that's for sure! Normally catbirds won't sing for people, which is to say that they are normally skittish and easily spooked, so it's hard to get a shot like this. And it's a very pretty picture indeed! Soft colors, warmth, great detail, nice composition. I'd be curious to know what would have happened if you'd zoomed out to 300mm so as to include more of the foliage in the upper right? I assume that it got brambly or unphotogenic, hence the picture we see here, which as I've said, is very pretty indeed?

Great composition, colours, details...I love the fact that the rusty undertail coverts are clearly visible. The plume of leaves creates beautiful balance with the bird. I've been trying a bit of audio on these birds as well...they react very quickly...I had trouble with them being too close!

I love it when it all works out, don't you?

The Catbird looking towards the leaves calling is what makes this image beautiful for me.
