Morning chorus
Australian White-backed Magpie/Gymnorhina leuconota.
A common sound to wake up to in Oz, the morning chorus/yodel of the local Magpie families, a strong family group orientated species, but often with nasty dispositions

Super on all counts. You did a good job with a difficult composition and with a difficult exposure. Love the low angle and the smooth as silk BKGR. An option would be to eliminate the white specks on the plumage especially those by the face and bill if that fits with your personal ethics.

What a nice pose! Background is complimentary. I see something odd by the white feathers of the neck in the background. I like how you composed this image.

Hi Phil, would agree on the above, love the detail in the blacks and sheen of the bill, but what are the artifacts, top LH corner about an inch in, then about half way down, at the back of the bird close to the edge of the white plumage?

Great IQ on the bird, and you got it in prime calling pose - perfect theme image! I do see various cloning marks to clean up...see bottom right corner and top left corner.
Just read Steve's comment (don't know how I missed it)...sorry for the repetition...

Thanks for looking.....and interesting about the artifacts, I cant see anything on my monitor ?...might have to do a bit of pixel peeping to try and see what oddities are there. I dont remember doing any cloning as it was a clean background lying on a large lawned area, but maybe I tried smoothing more, dont remember.
Thanks again, just had a closer look and I see the oddities mentioned, it is a result of cloning after adding a bit more canvas to the image and then trying to smooth out the joins. I would not of noticed this without it being pointed out, good think there is more than one pair of eyes viewing, thanks again.

Not a problem Phil, always best to add in the intro any additional work done, like - 'adding a bit more canvas',
