Alert!
Burrowing owl Alert pose. The owl was monitoring a red tailed hawk that was hunting near by. The RTH call caused the owl to come out of the nest and look for the hawk in panic.

Very cool eyes, and a kind of freaky pose, arash. Different and unusual. Very nice DOF and BG.

Very nice shot, you have really caught the emotions there. The feet are not visible, not really a problem but I think if one at least had been partially/visible the image would have looked even stronger.

nice image, good detail and lighting, the bird looks like its been hypnotised.

Amazing eyes, tiny pupils are not what one expects from an Owl, shame the feet are not visible, but overall a sharp and interesting image

Awesome behaviour shot! The bird looks terrified!!!

You can really feel the fear in this guy/gal!! The small pupils from the sunlight gives this a freaky look...great stuff!

Fantastic behavior shot. Never seen a burrowing owl look so alert and yes, frightened! Nice job, Arash.

Really nice light and alert look. Good IQ. It would have been great to see the feet but not a deal breaker at all because his gaze draws the eyes upward,
Gail
PS Now the big question is...Did you get a flight shot?!!!

Gail, I will post a flight frame that I got later but I have to say this is by far the toughest specie to get in flight, of course without using tricks such as baiting or a blind which I don't use. They make terns feel like a piece of cake.
They fly short distances EXTREMELY quickly. I find that even the MK4 shutter lag is no match for them. I attempted several take offs but my frames are empty
i.e. the bird had left before the camera released the shutter.
I was hoping to get my 600 this week to try but so far no word from B&H.

And that is exactly why I am expecting great things from you!

Beautiful shot Arash. Great details and BG. The pose is priceless. I'd love to see even a glimpse of feet, which would put it way over the top.

Hi Arash, how are those eyes. You can feel the tension of the owl, and I like how you have created the vertical. Good detail on the owl, and nicely separated from the BG.
