I love the head turn. Kind of a unique position.

Thanks. Doug, I had a long discussion with him about head angle before he started his dive.

In dutch or english the discussion?

I also like the pose and head turn. This pose is typical of this bird flying (although I was unable to get any clean and sharp image of it). Good job capturing the action.

I wonder if playing with contrast/saturation a bit would give more punch to the image?

Agree with all above, and add it's a shame the sky is not a tad more colorful...classic pose though

Wonderful image Ian. Is it part of a series of a dive? I'd like to see more.

Ian, nice capture of the action, but the image has issues. The sun seems to be high and to the right. Therefore, a lot of the bird is in shadow. Harsh light is harsh. The image looks flat to me, and I agree with P-A. on the contrast. There are no catchlights in the eyes and they look dark to me. I know it is too late for this image, but I would suggest shooting later or earlier in the day.
