    Default Yellow-headed Blackbird

This capture was taken at an eye-level with the bird with the near sunset lighting behind my back.

I like how you have handled the yellows and blacks of the bird.
If this were my image, I would crop out the thin jagged section of sky at the upper part of the photograph --

Very nice colors and singing pose, great bg. Well exposed. I like it as posted, but agree that a vertical might be an alternative. Might have wished for a little head turn.

Cool! Don has read my mind about the bits of sky at top...I would clone in some green instead to retain the adequate amount of space above. Love the simplicity of this image.

This is lovely. Very simple and elegant. The light is stunning and shows the bird off to perfection. Agree re: cloning in some green at the top,
    Gail

Hi Ray, love the light in this, together with the singing pose. You have exposed the blacks so well, and I like the space you have given him.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I agree that the slight jagged sky at the top throws the image off a bit, and I will clone some greens in there. I don't think the vertical crop will be a good idea with the slant angle of the bird and cattail like this. The head angle for sure could be better, but this will be as far as I go to be acceptable. Many thanks! I will post the re-edit when I have time to look at the photo again. Always great to get some second and third opinions. :P
