Bonelli's Eagle (Aquila fasciata)
After my previous post about the Bonelli's Eagle (http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ta)?highlight=), a project that took me several months, here is my second image, this time is the male.
Like I said in the previous post, all preparation as well all field work in this project was monitored and supervised by biologists of the Portuguese Institute of Nature and Biodiversity Conservation (ICNB), the Portuguese authority for nature and wildlife.
A blind was placed two months earlier in the place normally the adults plucked their preys, after that the preys were taken to the nest to feed the chicks.
The shot was taken in a rainy day.
Small crop (10%) from top right corner to low left corner.

1D IV, 600mm f/4 + Blind
1/500 at f/6.3, -2/3 EC, ISO 800

Dont change a thing, fantastic shot, love the head turn and eye contact, the rain adds atmosphere, the only thing that may have improved the dramatic effect of the shot would be if the animal it has killed was more identifiable with perhaps a little carcass damage. But a shot to be proud of

The rain adds a different dimension. You've captured an excellent head angle as well, even though the bird is oriented away from you in the frame this is an excellent image.

Thanks to all,
Arash, the prey is a Red-legged Partridge (Alectoris rufa), the Bonelliīs Eage is specialized in hunting in flight medium size bird, rabits, and sometimes even ducks, egrets and herons. I also have some picture where you can see the prey clearly...
Later when arrive home will post a 1024px version.

That is awesome!! The rain adds to an already sombre theme. Love the bloodied bill, perfet head angle, great perch. I love the background too, but would tone down the brighter part in lower right corner. I also wish you had pointed your lens down a bit more. Super stuff, looking forward to more!

Daniel, I agree, but the eagle had his head up, then she turn the head dow, it was an opportunity shot, I might had time to recompose, but it append so quickly that I didnīt think in anything else. Also agree with BG, I also think about that, I might try to see if I can do it right. ;)

Love the repost. The rain and eye contact make this image for me. Nice setting with lovley BG. Agree with having a bit more rock showing and the bird up a bit in the frame.
