    Default Fire at night

    Attached Images Attached Images

I photographed this from my house last night. This is the huge fire in northern Colorado that is on the news right now. It was originally headed my way and I started to put hard drives, etc. into boxes to be ready to evacuate. But the wind changed and it is now blowing away but everyone in the area is on constant alert for another wind shift.

This is an in-camera blur. The dark area is a heavily wooded mountain. As I send this I continue to see lots of fresh heavy smoke and spend more time checking the police & public bulletins than anything else today.

Nancy, the image is beautiful with the oranges contrasting with the blacks. It's abstract but you can still see the mountainside and the trees. The situation itself is scary and I hope you and your surroundings will be safe.

It's a very striking image with the glowing orange against the black of the sky and trees. I hope it doesn't shift toward you again. Take care and stay safe!

Dramatic image, but just glad you and your property are OK!

It's a dramatic abstract, but I have to say I'm finding it hard to focus on the image when the story itself is so powerful...be safe! Hopefully you and your home will stay out of harm's way!

The glow reflecting off the smoke in the sky really adds to the ominus feel of the image. Thoughts will be with you and others in this area. keep yourself safe.

Thank you all for your comments and thoughts. The fire has not moved closer to my house although the smoke is thick. I have evacuated one car-load of stuff and will continue tomorrow. My computer will be one of the last things to move.

Now, that is what I call scary. Had a friend get burned out up there a few years ago. Good idea to have a plan for quick evacuation. My friend lost lots of her art and items that meant a lot to her. But, on the bright side (if there is a bright side to these fires), you captured an interesting image.
