Something struck me about this image - look how low in the water the bird is. It had been fishing for quite some time and I presume the feathers are beginning to become water logged.
    All C & C welcome.

Hi Artie, thanks for looking, regarding the eye, no I didn't doctor it, I attach another version where I did, I also did a linear burn on the brightest parts and made the crop as low as I could but unfortunately I cannot get all the head in.

The repost looks better, especially the eye. I see a lot of spots in this image, is it raindrops on your lens or something else?

Hi Jon, the grebe certainly is swimming 'low' in the water - maybe eaten too much. Good low angle of capture, with good detail and colours on the grebe. I prefer your OP with regards to the eye, and in your repost, there is a funny mark on the water, just above the highest point of his back.

Personally I prefer the repost as far as the eye goes. I can see that you removed some pieces of debris in the water in post and that has left some "cloned-in" water spots in their place. The patch tool or spot removal tool (for the small ones) would have been better tools for this job IMO.

I agree I made a rushed job of the repost - maybe I should start getting smart and save the TIFF file! The debris in the water is the seeds of willow trees - almost like snow everywhere.
