Default One fine squawking song sparrow

Ladies and germinados, here is a picture taken the other day with the Canon 7D and 200mm f2.8 + 1.4 (280mm) at iso400, 1/1600, f4. I'll welcome your comments and suggestions, believe you me. This here is about 75% of the original capture. All the best!

Nice BG and composition. Only the head angle could be better. Maybe some noise reduction at the background.

A crop from the right would help I think. The singing pose with the eyes shut is pretty cool. I like the perch but I would consider removing the oof thing below.

Thanks Jack...I'm awfully fond of the out-of-focus flowers although I did make a version with the flowers out. The one here is my preferred take. A crop from the right is a good idea, you're right...

I like the composition I have considered cropping a little but decided I like it as it is. I like the bird's expression, one eye appears to be shut, one open, I think he is trying hard with that song. I think the exposure is OK but I would consider lowering the brightness or enhancing the contrast a little just to see if the image improves and if not well I still like it!

Many thanks Jonathan, I think you're right about the brightness/contrast. I'll have a look at that, absolutely.

I'll go against the others by saying that I would have preferred the eyes fully open, and that I would also have preferred the light coming from the right to light this side of the face instead (or wait for the head to be angled towards the right). I like the quality of the light though, and the beautiful blues of the BG.

It was difficult for me to pick which photograph to post as I shot so many from all different angles...facial expressions, different light, poses etc etc. Some forthcoming subjects had I on this particular evening.
