    Default Pied avocet

Once again on Texel/Netherlands, this time without sunshine.

Frank, a lovely Avocet -- a species I've never seen before. Nice sharp legs, with the kicked up water and the small droplets particularly engaging. It seems just a bit "tight" in the frame to me; I think more room all around (if you have it) would be helpful.

I like the splash, exposure and details. I would like a little more room all around and wish the HA was more towards you. Nice image Frank!

Fabulous low angle. Good light allowed for good detail in whites and blacks on this handsome bird. A bit of head turn and a little more room would put this over the top.

Mirroring comments above, but if these birds are anything like the Avocets here any shot is a good shot as they are so flighty, very nice image especially exposure on the whites

The HA and tightness at the top have been noted otherwise this is really good with nice whites, the splash is great and the bg is very good.

Techs and processing look good, and the splashing action at the foot is neat, but as mentioned before the head angled away weakens the impact of the image, and yes it is a tad tight in the frame (IMO)

Hi Frank, good low angle, and overall well exposed. I like how the foot is coming out the water, and agree, a better HA would have been nice.

Thank you. Yes with the space around the head and the angle you are probably right.
