    A nice tree perch would have been preferred but we take what we are given.

    Stunning image Richard--love everything about it (except the perch). Not sure if it would help much, but I might try and remove the lower barbed wire from the image.

    Richard,

    I love original composition and you get an A+ here - I like the pic and what you are doing here - but agree with Cathy's comments about the perch. Moreover, the subject is too tight and too centered IMO, maybe use rule of thirds and try other crops. Looking at my monitor the whites seem in check and the exposure techs look solid. Do you have enough image to crop a pano with the subject looking out of the frame. Nice one and I love the original thinking here - keep em coming.

    Beautiful bird and nice action moment capturing a moment in arc of the food chain - just curious was the HH and what was your distance to the subject.

    I rather like barb wire fence perches, a very common perch for many birds in Oz, in fact I often go out of my way just to get a bird on barb wire { I love rust ! }

    However I would agree with Cathy in regards to trying to remove the second/bottom strand of barbed wire...lovely shot of this lovely species especially with Dragonfly dinner

    Lovely capture! I love the detail and I actually really like the barb wire for some reason. I think it would interesting to see if you had a little more room on the left to give the sense of the bird looking into the distance some more.

    Thanks everyone.

    Jeff. the camera amd lens where mounted on a monopod (if by HH you mean hand held), distance isn't showing in PS Bridge but at a guess I'd say 20 meters.

    Thanks Richard and I too have warmed up to the barb wire, it is original and I just like it!!

    Can you change the crop into a pano or extend the left side if not adding canvas is always an option.
