While photographing shorebirds this Laughing Gull landed just to the right of me. Seeing that I had already taken many images of this species from the trip (plus, the shorebirds were just amazing!) I half ignored it...until from the corner of my eye I realized it had a wriggling prey item between its' mandibles!! Time to switch subjects and concentrate on this action!! I took a good number of photos and I was super thrilled when later reviewing my photos and found this perfectly spiralling pose on the pipefish.
Photographed at Fort Desoto's East Beach.
