I took this last Friday with a Tamron 1.4x TC and my 400mm f/5.6
Wide open at f/8 and 560mm. 1/3200 and iso: 400.

Very nice light and details. I would have preferred a lower angle.

    Hey Brian,
I like the rippled reflection in this one. I think you could gain a bit more detail in the neck and whites with some selective processing. They looked a little bright for me so I did some quick tweaks with S&H, levels, selective sharpening for contrast, and another little tweak of sharpening. Could all just be my uncalibrated monitor though.

P.S. Probably should've tweaked the color before reposting. Never seen one of these in person.

The first image coloring looked more natural to me.

For me the truth is somewhere in between. I like the pastel feeling of the first image but the more details of the second.
Nice image anyway. Love the complete reflection.

The ORIG looks fine to me (but thanks Steve for you efforts). Brain, may we assume that it was impossible for you to get lower?

Of the Avocets I have seen, the original looks right on. I like the pose.

Getting lower when possible can improve the intimacy of these types of images.

Thanks Guys. Arthur is correct, I was actually lying flat on a bridge with no way to get lower. Thanks a lot for the comments guys :)
