I love this! Usually not crazy about silhouettes but this one is awesome!

    James:

Excellent angle on bird, easy to tell what species he is! Like the graduated water color, although it might have been interesting to have him flying into the lighter water.

The dark masses above the bird tend to distract from the subject, at least for me. If there was a wider swath of bright water vertically, that would be more effective for me.

    Cheers

I really like the feeling of this one. I wonder if the angle of the apparent horizon line is partly contributing to the distraction. Maybe a bit of CCW rotation and pano crop might help, but I'm not sure without trying. I might also fix the very slight sharpening halo. I particularly like the way the sun is catching a few water droplets.

I like this a lot - great bird placement, comp and execution imo. TFS!

This capture kicks butt, and I would promptly enter it into some contests.

I like the image overall. I have to admit that I am not crazy about the size of the dark area above, but I love the skimming line and the glow of light at right edge. Graphically strong.

Love this shot but find the horizon distracting

The skimmer, the reflection, the color of the water and the splash are spectacular. Is that clouds in the URC?

    What a striking image,James !
I love the contrasts and the gleaming water behind the beak as well as the reflection of the silhouette.
