    I was not set up for in flight images at 1000mm (500mm + 2x TC) but when this Avocet flew towards me and landed I fired a few frames off as it put its breaks on. Image looks sharper before posting here.

    1D MK 4, 500mm + 2x TC, 1/1250 @ 9, 500 ISO, EV - 1/3.

    Lovely image the head on flight angle with the pose are fantastic. I love the layers of colors from the FG to the BG.

    The foreground to background transition is very nice! Great bird and wingspread too. Well done for a photo taken on a whim!
