From my morning at Indian Lakes Estates with Artie. We were photographing this beautiful individual at point-blank range when it suddenly started to call. If you've ever heard their calls before you'll know they are something else, and to hear it from 10 feet away is pretty darn amazing! I was pretty happy with the colour bands at bottom :-)

Canon 7D + 100-400L @350mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/6.3, ISO 400, natural light, handheld, small crop top and right to help the composition.

I like the calling pose and IQ. It must have been really loud. Great image Daniel!

Great behavioural shot and sharp as a tack and I especially like the colour layers in the backdrop

Beautifully captured. Love the comp and the bg. Nice sharpness. I love the phrase Aldo Leopold used for these birds: "The trumpet in the orchestra of evolution". What a great opportunity to see and hear him up close and personal.

Nice Job Daniel. They are quite loud. I find the way the face and neck is exagerrated when calling.

You had a great morning at Artie's !
I really like the composition and the light. What really makes this image for me is the layered BG and the position of the head.
    Well done Daniel!

    Hey Daniel,
I don't normally like that kind of banding....but it works very well in this image! Sweeeeet!

Nice call pose and I do like the bands of colour in the BG. I think I can hear the call down here.
