Another image I managed at Indian Lakes Estates. A good flock of Cattle Egrets (a few dozen individuals) were feasting on a Mayfly explosion. As I approached from my car many of them would take off, only to land 20-30 yards further down past my car, allowing for terrific flight photography opportunities. I was driving on a vast grassy field off-road, therefore I could idle very slowly forward with both hands on the camera, eyes on the action, and knees on the steering wheel...not recommended for the road though!!
Canon 7D + 100-400L @235mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/6.3, ISO 400, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition (~75% FF), an OOF egret removed in post in LRC.
