    Default Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater/Acanthagenys rufogularis

First image post for me, not sure if I'm doing this right , I don't seem to be able to find the relevant tabs to click on ?....apologies if protocols are broken

A fairly common Honey-eater Species in some of the more arid regions of Australia southern regions, but one of my favorites. This one drawn into a water source on a warm day, and a carefully placed stick in the pool made an obvious place to dry off.

    Phil:

A big welcome to BPN. This is a great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer.

Your bird is sharp, well exposed, effective depth of field, excellent pose.

Great eye, drops add extra interest.

    Good background.

When doing setups, it often helps to have the perch parallel to your shooting position so it stays in focus the entire length. Not a major issue here, but something to keep in mind.

Normally I would place him a bit more to the left in the frame, but that would bring in more of the OOF perch (if you have more room on the right), so think this is a good compromise.

    Looking forward to more.

    Cheers

    Randy

Welcome Phil! Excellent first post, with a cool bird, nice head angle and good detail. Randy makes a good point about the plane of your perch, and also about the placement of the bird in the frame. Look forward to seeing more of your images!

Great post, wonderful IQ and as Satish mentioned the water droplets from the bath are a smart touch.

Welcome to BPN Phil, and what a nice way to start posting here! Awesome bird, background, and your techs are bang on. Great colours, and I love the water beads on this fella. I'd prefer it more to the left of the frame though.

    Looking forward to more!

    You're welcome Phil!

To get a thumbnail you need to become a paying member after which you can upload your images onto BPN's server instead of linking from another site...
