I was taking images of Zebra Finches drinking at a small drying up waterhole in a creek on Jump Up Loop Road when this White-plumed Honeyeater came to drink at a twig in the water. The twig used was an ideal in situ however no for long as a gust of wind placed eight or so dead grass stalks all around the twig...all too far out to be removed!! So ended the session.
The spot was just south of Olive Downs campground approximately 54km north of Tibooburra in Sturt National Park see NSW NP Website at http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/na....aspx?id=N0032 . This park is in the far north western corner of NSW where NSW borders both South Australia and Queensland the three state corner is Camerons Corner. Tibooburra is 1293km from Sydney if you go through Broken Hill it is 1361km. Roads within the National Park can be traversed with 2WD if careful best done with a high clearance 2WD or a 4WD.
Best regards

Excellent image of a fine looking bird. Great exposure for the yellows and sharp. Love the detail in the eye and the water drops on the bird, Awesome color in the water.
Nicely done Rod, plenty of detail showing through and I do rather like the colour of the water in this this. Might have to look into traveling to this location one day
I love how you got this guy on the branch and over the water.I would have preferred to not have the oof area in front but doesnt ruin the image for me. The drops on the belly are a plus.
