    I agree with Steve about the softness and light. I can almost smell the rose. The composition is right on, too. I like the stem leading back to the bloom and the slightly tighter crop on the bottom compared to the top. The subdued pink in the background and restrained use of Fractalius are both very effective.

    The rose was photographed in a homemade light box with three flash units. I used lots and lots of layers of low opacity Topaz soft focus and Nik Dynamic Skin softener, tonal contrast and contrast color range. I masked the center through most of this. Then I added the texture.
