    These birds aren't the prettiest ones around, but every so often you get a shot that's worth keeping...
    Shot at the RAMSAR Marievale Wetland Reserve, South Africa.

    Great timing here,Morkel.You have managed to expose the blacks very well here on a normally drab looking bird.I love the wing blur , the splash,HA and bg.Sharp where it counts.

    Yes, they are a bit drab, but the timing and action are great, the red eye gives a touch of color.

    Real sense of motion here.

    I could see a version with a sliver more canvas to the right, although it would be a bit squarish for some!

    Hey Morkel, cormorants are often comical on take-off and you have captured that nicely here. Nice splashing action, and good techs. I'm used to seeing them with an emerald eye, cool to see a species with a red one!

    Hi Mork, well exposed on a difficult character, and well timed for the take off. Good to see the water flying off the edges of the wings, together with all the droplets. I havent been to Marievale for ages.
