    Default Cades Cove Misty Morning

Hi everyone! I've been on vacation in the Smoky Mountains, gone for 9 days and working on photos for a week. I think I finished them all last night. I haven't had time to do much "artistic enhancing" yet but I did this one because the original was so badly underexposed. I used Topaz Adjust on this one plus early work in Lightroom. I think I used split toning in Lr to get the pinkish sky which appealed to me.

Here is the original without any raw processing added. It was made right after they opened the gate before sunrise and was my first exposure sand I guessed wrong.

Its like a fairyland scene Judy and I think you've done very well to rescue your original. I like it very much.

Thanks a lot, Cheryl and Hilary! You'll be seeing more of my sunrise in Cades Cove photos I'm sure! The fog really made it special.

First light view of one of my favorite places. Love the pink sky. Your eye caught what I would have said oops to and probably deleted. Love the fog at the base of the mtns.

Thanks Hazel! I'm glad I was able to salvage it.

Judy, echo the comments on a great save of the original. Nice color work. It is so cool to see Cades Cove through the eyes of another photographer. We were there at the same time?

Ditto the comments, especially Hazel's. I would have one-starred it and not looked back. The pink sky really works well. It creates a third band of tones for you eyes to move to.

It is fun to take a "failed" pic and play with it. Really nice job of processing. You worked wonders.

You really found a great way to save this one, Judy. My only comment might be to see if you could burn and dodge a few of the tree trunks/limbs to bring another little bit of depth into the tree line. Love that pink sky!!!
