D700, 300mm, 1.4tc, tripod. 1/400, f6.3, iso640. Adjusted exposure in acr. USM in CS3. I tried to remove the peanut but could not make the beak look right. This was an early morning setup in April. This was the best crop that I could muster.

I like it, I am not a purest I guess, because I think it adds to the photo.

I don't mind the peanut either for a backyard photo, but otherwise I'd prefer a more "natural" food item. The IQ looks great, but compwise I'd have placed the subject higher in the frame, with a bit less right and left to retain the crop ratio. I like the backgorund and fresh spring foliage.
Hi Jack, love the diagonal perch, and love the show off pose with the peanut even more. You have brought out the finer detail in the plumage around the head very well, and agree, moving him up in the frame wont harm the image.![]()
