    Default Sandpiper

I recently began shooting some birds. My first try was during a family trip to Florida in April. I like this one because the ripples in the sand create leading lines in the photo. In retrospect, the image might have been stronger with the ripples diagonally in the frame. How else could I improve? What did I do right? The particulars:
    1D2n, iso 250, f/8, 1/1000. Thanks for looking.--Eric.

I'm thinking about cropping some off the bottom for starters to remove the out of focus sand.

I think you did good by not getting low. Cause if you had, you probably would've lost the effect
you were looking for in regards to sand/lines.

Hi Eric - your image looks well exposed and sharp--nice job! I agree with Doug about the crop. Next time you may want to get down in the sand and shoot at a low angle and see if you like that perspective. I took the liberty of cropping the image to show you what it looks like without all the extra space at the bottom.

Hi Eric- Big (belated) welcome to BPN and to Eager to Learn. This is an interesting image of a plover. I like the novel idea of the composition and crop you have here. The image is sharp and well-lit. I like the implied action with the lifted toes and the little reflection of same. I would consider moving the bird to the left in the frame to give it a bit more room to the right in the direction it's moving. For an art-piece for the wall I might consider cleaning up the sand- centre-right and some of the specks.

Look forward to seeing more from you and don't hesitate to comment on other images posted here.
