I had two fly by Black-crown Night Herons.
One junior coming from the right direction and one senior later coming from the wrong direction.
    I took pictures of both.
    First the junior.
    Thanks for coming.

Karl, nice details, exposure and composition. Angle a bit steep but its working well as the heron is looking down. Excellent angle of the bird.

loved the red eye. hard to judge if the DOF is sufficient or not. With that light and that camera, with sky BG, I'd have raised the ISO and shot at f/8.

I see a small dust spot.

    Very nice Karl,
I like the light and the slightly open beak and crossed legs.
I like the shadow of the head across the wing.
I would clone out the bit of stuff trailing behind the feet and add about 2 points of black to the neutrals in selective color (in photoshop) to give a bit more ' pop" to the bird.
Well done on a lovely shot,
    Gail

Excellent job, Karl. Great angle towards you, and really like the shadow. Super IQ, detail, and comp.

Well done Karl, very sharp as posted, and I'm OK with the DOF. I agree with removing the stuff trailing behind the feet (if it looked like water drops I'd leave it in, but it is indistinguishable as is), and the dust spot at left upper corner needs cleaning :-)
