I shot this as vertical but its a big crop. Hence, the IQ is not quite there. Pair is nesting on a small island. I went as low as I could to get the distant BG. With sun hitting the whites directly and throwing the blacks in shadow, it was a challenging expsosure situation. Had some blinkies on the breast. These are not so easy to photograph here....happy to come home with a few keepers.

    All comments welcome.

    Kaustubh:

Your low angle really accentuates the long legs. Neat striding pose, looks like he is marching in a parade. I might crop a bit from the top, but the current crop does play up the height of the bird.

    Excellent angle in frame.

    Cheers

Randy, any more crop and the IQ will not hold up. where we sit on the bank and where the nest is....its not an ideal situation for my gear. A friend of mine has been nailing great shots with the 500 and the converters.

Kaustubh love the low angle and also those long legs. Great BG and head angle. I would have loved the bird a bit closer TFS

Love the strut! I think you should get some waders and get closer to these guys.
Your crop is excellent because it really plays up those long legs.
Great BG as well. IQ looks good to me despite the crop,
    Gail

Love the pose and the background looks nice, Kaustubh. This is a very elegant shorebird.

Love the low angel and the pose reminds me of a marching soldier.

Love the scene and comp. I think you can get away from the IQ issue as IMHO you don't really need the fine detail here. Very nice KD

I love the crop as presented, it would be fantastic if you could get some like this wothout the huge crops but I understand the dilemma you're presented. Have you thought of accentuating the red iris?

Hi Kaus, fantastic 'marching' pose, and Im glad you went with a vertical here. Your low angle has given you a great BG to work against, and I like the extra space all round.
